Biography
Dr. Jamal Golbahar is an Associate Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, founder and director of Dr Golbahar Newborn Screening Laboratory in Shiraz, South West of Iran. As a member of International Society of Neonatal Screening Dr. Golbahar has been actively involved in molecular medicine field and promoting and advocating the newborn screening and genetic testing in the Middle East for over 18 years. He has also been actively involved in providing reviews and expert advice to newborn screening programs and genetic testing in the Middle East. Dr Golbahar earned a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Bradford University, UK, and master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Biochemistry from Leeds University, UK. He is a UK certified Pediatric Clinical Biochemist and his research interests in molecular medicine include; inborn errors of metabolism and he has been principal investigator on a number of clinical studies exploring Gene-nutrients interaction and has also pursued clinical research studies relating to the inherited metabolic disorders with more than 25 publications.
